The Blue Blade Steel Automated ISO System Manages Everything But the Weather!
May 2, 2011 -
Kenilworth, NJ - May 2, 2011 - Blue Blade Steel says "goodbye" to the cluttered ISO systems of old, having created a new completely automated system to manage the ISO 9001-2008 certification requirements. Using quick-links to store detailed data reports in a master outline of the various systems has created a one-stop location for all records, documents, and systems and has brought heat-treating strip steel to new quality levels.
This automated system created a data storage point for daily process monitoring documents and records, an invaluable tool for manufacturing personnel looking to compare mechanical properties, steel grades, and tempering data quickly. Having this data automated encourages research and creates a reference system to confirm SAE grades for incoming and post processing inspection.
Task management can be difficult for both large and small businesses. Making sure that permits, training, and audits are performed at appropriate times is essential. By linking a calendar within the computerized systems Blue Blade Steel was able to schedule out all such tasks creating a system of sustainable clairvoyance to any known requirements.
"Creating this new system was a daunting task," explains Jerry Shaw, President and owner of Blue Blade Steel. "Ultimately it has freed our quality and manufacturing departments up so much that we have been able to undertake new quality and safety initiatives including the ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems, ISO 18001 Safety Management Systems, and a new program that involves partnering with OSHA to complete their SHARP initiative. The system is so sophisticated we are now able to manage EVERYTHING from one place, except maybe the weather!"
